FAQs - Häufige Fragen

What is the difference between an event and an advertisement?

There is a slight difference. Both options are designed to bring like-minded people together. An event takes place at a specific time and can also be created as a private (non-public) event, e.g., a concert on a specific day. An ad is unlimited in time and always public, e.g., to find other people interested in a private reading circle, game night, etc.

How can I create my own events and advertisements?

To do this, please go to the app's home page and then click on the large plus symbol in the bottom right-hand corner. You will then have the option to choose between an event and an ad. Fill out the form with all the required fields and then click on Save. Your event or ad is now created. An image will be automatically added to your event/ad at the beginning. If you would like to change this, go to the “My Events” section, select the relevant event, and then click on the gray, round photo icon in the image. Here you can now upload a different image from your phone.

How can I create favorites?

Simply click on the small star icon in the top right corner of the photo in the “Event Feed” or “Ads Feed.” The star will then turn yellow, and you will find this event or ad under “Favorites.”

How do I add my personal interests to my profile?

Go to the menu with the three lines, then to Profile. Here you can manage all your profile settings. If you now click on the “My interests” section, you can select the individual interest categories and weight them according to their personal significance. 0 means no interest, 10 means very strong interest.

How can I filter my news feed (view of events and announcements) according to my own interests?

To do this, please click on the funnel icon in the top right-hand corner of the event or ad feed. Under “Other,” you can now select the “Only show events that suit me” option by sliding the slider to the right. Once the slider turns red, the feature is activated and you will only see events that match your personal interest profile, as you have created it in your profile settings.

How can I communicate with other members?

Via the chat function. You can find this in the menu (icon with three lines, top left) under “Messages.” Here you can search for members and start a conversation. All personal conversations you have already had are also displayed here. Only the person you are chatting with can read the texts. They are not visible to any other members. Alternatively, you can start a conversation with someone who is interested in the same event as you and has favorited or commented on it. To do this, go to the desired event and then click on the profile name of the person who commented. You will then see the profile of the respective member and can start a private conversation.

Which of my details are visible to other members?

Only the information you enter in your profile, i.e., profile picture, account name, profile description, and personal interests. The Google email address and Apple ID you need to register are not visible to other users. You can find more information on data protection in our separate privacy policy in the menu. All data collected for the kultur klub ulm app is stored and processed exclusively for the purposes of this project and treated in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations.

What do the cultural guides do?

Who is responsible for the entire project?

Is it possible to use the app in English?

Yes, the menu navigation is also available in English. To activate it, you need to change from “German” to ‘English’ in your personal profile settings under “My Account.” Please note, however, that we have no influence on the language in which the community communicates and networks with each other. The best thing to do is to proactively give it a try by creating an event/advertisement with an English description.

Yes, the navigation is available in English, too. Please switch from “German” to “English” in your personal profile settings to activate this function. However, please note that we have no influence on the community language and in which language other users are communicating. The best thing is, just to give it a try by creating an event / annonce with an English description.

How can I subscribe to and unsubscribe from push notifications?

When you open the app for the first time, you will be asked if you would like to receive personal push notifications when there is something new (a message, comments on your created event, etc.) in the app. Your initial selection will be saved in the settings. However, you can easily change this later. The change is made via your device settings (not via the profile settings in the app). To do this, open the “Settings” section on your smartphone, go to ‘Apps’ and select the “kultur klub ulm” app from the list. You can now turn push notifications on or off.

Will a seat/ticket be automatically reserved for me if I click “interested” for a paid event?

No, our app focuses on networking with other members, exchanging ideas, and arranging joint cultural visits. Once you have arranged to attend a paid event with two, three, or more people, you should discuss how to organize ticket purchases or seat reservations. It is usually easiest if each member organizes their own ticket/reservation.
