Crime comedy by Karsten Dusse and Bernd Schmidt
Mindful Murder
At his wife’s insistence, criminal defense attorney Björn Diemel is supposed to get his work-life balance in order. She sends the sharp-witted lawyer—who spends his days looking out for the well-being of organized crime—to a mindfulness seminar. What Björn Diemel learns there and successfully puts into practice changes not only his life but also the hierarchy within the underworld.
“Suspense, unsolicited advice, and gallows humor”—that’s how Jan Böhmermann described Karsten Dusse’s novel. In the stage adaptation, three actors rotate through nineteen roles and make a mindful effort to keep up with the fast-paced story at a more leisurely pace. The clash between crime comedy and self-help literature creates an explosively humorous blend of a wellness vacation and murderous fun. In the end, Björn Diemel proves to be a model student of his mindfulness coach—albeit with fatal consequences, but for the good of his family.
