For many people, the Christmas oratorio is an inseparable part of Christmas. Bach composed six cantatas for the services on the six feast days in 1734. The Wiblinger Kantorei performs parts 1, 4, 6 and the choruses of the 5th cantata.
"Jauchzet, frohlocket" is the opening song, followed by "Großer Herr, o starker König" (with solo trumpet) or the famous echo aria; "Herr, wenn die stolzen Feinde schnauben" with a virtuoso Bach trumpet part creates a jubilant festive mood.
