In 1986, the Rainbirds turned a plan into a hit: with "Blueprint", they not only created a song, but a real blueprint for sophisticated pop music. The sound of the Berlin band led by singer and songwriter Katharina Franck still proves its worth four decades after its foundation: When pop is done well, it goes straight to the heart.

The Rainbirds' songs have lost none of their relevance. They are tender, playful, sprawling and minimalist. And they always have the urge to be heard. For the band's 40th anniversary, they are returning to the stage in their (expanded) original line-up: founding members Katharina Franck and bassist Michael Beckmann as well as pianist, composer and long-time "Rainbird" Ulrike Haage will be joined on stage by electric guitarist Werner Neumann and drummer Dominique "Gaga" Ehlert.

Rodrigo González (Die Ärzte) and founding member Wolfgang Glum will also be guests for the anniversary concert series, which will focus on seven albums - from the acclaimed debut "Rainbirds" to 2014's "Yonder".

"These will be the best Rainbirds ever," promises Katharina Franck, the leading bird with the still clear and variable voice and the only constant in the formation, which has been constantly changing since 1986. "Or, as I sing in my song "Milestone", it will be nothing less than "the turning point as a haven of peace in troubled days, the caesura as the starting point for many new questions."
