On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster shook the world. A radioactive cloud ejected into the atmosphere from reactor 4 swept across Europe. With a particular focus on nature, which has since quietly reclaimed the place abandoned by humans, artists have repeatedly roamed the area around Chernobyl. The exhibition also includes rare interior views of reactor 4 and poses the explosive question of future repositories.
Experts are currently investigating whether the region around Ulm, for example, could be selected for such a site. A decision is expected in 2050.
