With their quays, ship basins, cranes, warehouses and terminals, the Danube ports are not only important places for tourism and the handling of goods, but also for cultural exchange. Merchants, sailors, day laborers and skilled workers come together here, as do locals and migrants of different nationalities. This makes the ports a uniquely diverse environment.

The exhibition presents this colorful world and introduces new scientific findings. Photos, posters and plans provide an insight into the fascinating past and present of the Danube ports. The exhibition is complemented by graphics and paintings by artists from the Apor Vilmos Catholic University (Vác, Hungary).

The exhibition will subsequently be shown in Budapest, Novi Sad and other Danube cities.

A project of the Institute for Danube Swabian History and Regional Studies (Tübingen) in cooperation with the Hungarian National Archives and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Novi Sad, funded by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation.
