Wort-Reich - die Lesereihe 2025/26

Wort-Reich - the 2025/26 reading series

Organiser Theater Ulm:

Discover the classics of literary history as well as as yet unknown texts with "Wort-Reich - die Lesereihe".

Once a month, we encourage you to (re)discover classics of literary history or as yet unknown texts with word art! The musically accompanied excursions by members of the ensemble into the world of poetry include provocative, cheerful and moving pieces. One thing is always certain: the selected texts are well worth reading and listening to.

Tickets costing €10 are available from the theater box office and the Aegis bookshop.

Turning points - An evening with Klaus Mann
Wednesday, March 18, 2026, 7 p.m., Aegis Café
In what is probably Germany's most famous family of writers, he attempts in his life and poetry to counter the paternal super-figure and becomes - according to Marcel Reich-Ranicki - a "triple whammy": "He was homosexual. He was an addict. He was the son of Thomas Mann". Klaus Mann, who as a young author fled into exile from the National Socialists in 1933 and chose suicide in Cannes in 1949 at the age of 42, left behind fascinating texts in which he tells of placelessness, resistance and being an outsider, of existences full of contradictions. His best-known work "Mephisto" will be performed at Theater Ulm - at "Wort-Reich", members of the ensemble and head dramaturge Dr. Christian Katzschmann will present more of his astonishingly contemporary works.
