After the police brought her to the psychiatric facility of the old Vienna hospital, Eva Gruber regularly sits opposite the head psychiatrist, Dr. Korb, to discuss the reasons for her hospitalization. During these conversations, she is cheeky and know-it-all, constantly trying to provoke, but she also talks about her childhood in the idyllic but arch-Catholic Carinthian village, her parents' house and her younger brother Bernhard. Her father is also a topic - a taciturn man whom Eva would prefer to kill. At least that's what she claims, as well as the sexual abuse.

But it is hard to tell what is truth and what is a lie - is Eva traumatized by her upbringing, does she suffer from a personality disorder?

In her brilliant debut, author Angela Lehner presents a 'mentally disturbed person' as she has never been seen before: highly comical and deeply manipulative. The novel, which was published in 2019 and won the Debut Prize of the Austrian Book Awards, is being brought to the theater stage for the first time in Ulm in a stage version by Jessica Sonia Cremer.
