The concept has been part of the repertoire at Theater Ulm since 2007: operetta with young people - not a musical, but a genre that is not easily associated with young people. Here, the seemingly impossible is possible. We sing classical music with untrained voices: always with a wink and an extra dose of self-irony.

The 2025/2026 season marks a significant moment in the history of the Bürgerbühne Musiktheater: we are performing a contemporary operetta. Yes, there is such a thing. Ulrich Wiederspahn (*1998), himself a long-time member and musician of the Bürgerbühne, caught fire for the genre and composed a real operetta (somewhat in the style of the 1920s) during his studies and also wrote the libretto himself. A very subdued premiere with a small, wonderful amateur ensemble in Tübingen in 2024 (directed by a former Bürgerbühne member) completely convinced us of the quality of the piece. And where, if not in the young author's 'home', should a complete performance of this clever and witty operetta take place? "Pathos in Yellow" is coming to Ulm! Operetta is undoubtedly young - and it has something to say.

Who can take part? Anyone between the ages of 15 and 25 who has the desire and courage to let themselves be carried away musically and scenically. We speak, dance and sing. You don't have to be able to do all this beforehand, but you do have to want to!
