Photographer Richard Sharum turns his gaze to where the American dream flickers. Beyond clichés, his quiet black and white photographs show the realities of life that rarely receive attention - as individual stories full of vulnerability, resilience and dignity. Unagitated and at the same time haunting, his visual language creates closeness without idealizing or exposing. Sharum's America trilogy consists of three photographic series that make different facets of social reality tangible. Together they create a portrait of a country that is in a state of change and conflict with itself - characterized by social tensions and economic pressure, but at the same time by astonishing human strength.
