Exhibition "New Developments in the Flow – 24th Ulm Art Triennial"

Organiser Museum Ulm:

Three exhibition venues in downtown Ulm: Kunstverein Ulm, Kramgasse 4; BBK Ulm – Künstlerhaus Ulm, Grüner Hof 5; Künstlergilde Ulm, Donaustr. 5.

From July 11 through August 30, the 24th Ulm Art Triennial invites visitors to discover the full diversity of contemporary art in the region. Since its founding in 1955, it has served as the central platform for contemporary artistic creation from Ulm, Neu-Ulm, and the Alb-Donau district. It offers insights into a vibrant, multifaceted art scene that shapes the region and extends its influence beyond its borders.
The Triennale fosters dialogue between art and the public and, in particular, provides a stage for younger and as yet little-known artists to present themselves to a wider audience for the first time and gain attention beyond the regional scene.
In 2026, the exhibition will once again be organized through the tried-and-true collaboration between the Museum Ulm, the Kunstverein Ulm, the Künstlergilde Ulm e.V., and the Bund Bildender Künstler (BBK) Ulm – Künstlerhaus Ulm. Due to the comprehensive renovation of the Museum Ulm, the Triennial will be presented at the partner institutions’ venues. The three-part exhibition will be complemented by a diverse accompanying program.
The 2026 Triennial will gain particular prominence through its temporal and thematic connection to the International Danube Festival. Thematically, it takes up the motif of the river. As a unifying and transformative element, the Danube symbolizes movement, change, and exchange—as a continuous flow of ideas, perspectives, and artistic positions.
Artists who were born, live, or work in Ulm or Neu-Ulm, in the Alb-Donau district, or in the Neu-Ulm district were invited to submit artworks created within the past three years. The selection was made by an independent jury consisting of art historians and artists recommended by the organizing institutions.

Opening hours: Thu–Fri 2–6 p.m., Sat–Sun 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Free admission!
